Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and Allah has made it obligatory for Muslims to fast in the month of Ramadan. In this month, Muslims fast for Allah’s sake and refrain from eating and drinking as well as other addictions from dawn to sunset.

As such, this fasting abstains one not only from eating and drinking, but also keeps one away from evils and bad activities, and encourages to engage oneself in prayer, charity and other good deeds, and brings one closer to Allah. Furthermore, Ramadan is not only the month of fasting, but it also is the month of Quran. It is the month in which The Holy Quran was revealed as a guidance for mankind.

In The Quran, in Surah al-Baqarah, Allah has enjoined fasting upon Muslims. This article enlists four verses from The Quran that make mention of Ramadan and stress the importance of fasting
